In defense of work-life balance

In recent years, the term work-life balance has been replaced by the concept of work-life integration. But author Josh Levs argues there’s an important difference between the two ideas. In an era of 24/7 connectivity, pursuing work-life integration for its own sake — and without balance — makes it difficult to distinguish between the home and the office. The solution is to allow for some forms of integration, such as making it easier for people to work at home, while insisting on the type of balance that allows people to unplug.
