Engineering to Consulting?

Hi all,

I've been reading more and more into your world and it's truly fascinating. I've also realized that a lot of my natural skills and abilities are better suited for consulting than my initial career of choice.

Currently I'm in engineering consulting (electrical), however I'm assuming it's what you would call being on the industry side? What is a typical progression for someone like me who wants to stay relatively close to engineering because of personal passion but would love to work in the consulting industry? Is this something that happens often or is even feasible? Does one typically work for a couple years in industry, go back to school for a top school MBA and use that to get in?

Thanks in advance!
