I'm a UK undergraduate considering a career in consulting. I know that a lot of consultants say that the worst aspect of their job is the frequent travelling Mon-Thu, with long, DVT inducing flights and nights spent in yet another chain hotel. As someone who doesn't find travelling that great, even when going on vacation/holiday, this really put me off an otherwise interesting seeming career option.
However, I am also aware that most consultants on this sub are based in the US. I'd be interested to know if consultants in London have this kind of travel schedule. I guess you have to go to where your clients are, so what proportion of your clients are based in London/rest of UK/rest of Europe and how much time on average do you spend travelling to firms in each category? Oh, and how often do you have to spend a night in a hotel?
