Offered a strategy exit role – planned sabbatical


So I've recently been offered a role in industry within a strategy team.

Role description is great, people seem friendly, company reviews also good, aligns with my future industry goals, and they are willing to negotiate on salary. I'm ready to jump.


I also have a 3 month sabbatical planned/semi-approved by my current employer starting mid december. That's on top of ~14 days annual leave between now and then.

My plan is to just lay it all out and ask if they would honour the sabbatical; it's important to me and my partner that I can take this time off, so its almost non-negotiable.

Any thoughts? Am I being silly by insisting on this time off, with a prospective good role on offer?
